The odds are that an esports star will be named a Sports Personality of the Year nominee.

With the 2019 Fortnite World Cup and its massive prize pools, esports were front and centre in the press. Jaden "Wolfiez" Ashman, a 15-year-old champion of the Fortnite World Cup who received $1 million, was the subject of extensive coverage in the UK's mainstream media.

Consequently, esports players have a legitimate shot at being nominated for Sports Personality of the Year at the moment, according to betting companies. 

The fact that three British players—Tommy Rated, Jukeyz, and Fifakill—are already in the top ten earners in Call of Duty Warzone should bode well for next year's awards, especially given the growing popularity of esports. 

In addition, the odds of any esports team taking home the trophy for Team of the Year at the Sports Personality of the Year awards are 80/1. 

Bance, Cammy, and Insight are three British players on the Toronto Ultra Call of Duty League club. After finishing in second place at the Championships last year, this could be something to think about if they keep winning. 

Afro, Gismo, Nastie, and Zer0 are all English players with the London Royal Ravens, hence Britain is well-represented. The odds of them being nominated for Team of the Year are highest, says OLBG's Jake Ashton.
